My Sexy Saturday – What happens after the end?

Welcome to the 56th week of My Sexy Saturday.

What happens after The End? ~ @MySexySaturday #MySexySaturday #MSS54

This week, we’re wondering what happens after you say THE END. What happens to your wonderful characters that you’ve created? Do they retreat silently into the sunset? Do they get more exposure in the next book of your series? This is our thoughts on what happens to those special characters once the story appears to be over.

When I wrote The Garnet Dagger Book 1 in my Legends of Oblivion series – I set out to write my first fantasy/paranormal romance novel.

Just one.

I didn’t plan on two or three, or now the current count of four. But when finished Garnet Dagger, the couple – Brock & Celeste – wouldn’t remain silent. I wrote another hundred pages, then Book 2 Son of Dragons emerged, and Book 3 War of Darkness. The hundred pages between Book 1 & 2 were cut out (per my publisher’s request and to focus on the new couple Brock’s sister, Mirhana and her love interest).

Yet, I didn’t feel right leaving Brock & Celeste where they were in Book 1. In Book 2 & 3 they are still characters, but shift to a more minor roll. So I edited, condensed, and turned  those hundred pages into Book 1.5, Cursed.

Brock: Elvin Vampire                   Celeste: Human, Witch

Here’s a snippet from Cursed

Book 1.5 Legends of Oblivion series:

When we arrived in my Elvin city of Tamlon, I hoped to show Celeste the wonders of my land. And bask in the sun naked with her.

As the others slept, I laid down beside Celeste. She turned and snuggled her head under my chin. “Your language is so beautiful. Almost like music with its rhythms and melody.”

My hand traced circles up and down her back. “Emir voulan sptrea.”

“What does that mean?”

I eased her chin up and she looked into my eyes. “We are one heart.” I kissed her and relished in the sweetness of her mouth for we could do little else with company.

Andrea R. Cooper writes fantasy, paranormal, historical and contemporary romance.

Her favorBio Pic 300x400ite childhood memories revolved around creating vibrant characters for her friends, and then acting out their adventures. Inside her fantasy worlds of darkened forests, dragon-filled glades, and iced islands, nothing was banned. From the ethereal Elvin to the most maligned Vampires, all were welcome in her fictional realities, a stark contrast to her home, where the magical and mythical was forbidden.

Divorced and disillusioned of love and believing all the love songs and books exaggerated, she put aside her creativity for life. Many years past before characters, from the familiar to the freshly conceived, came to her again, but this time teasing at a new passion, the written word.

Gradually, her real life hero brought love and magic back into existence. During the time when her characters were getting reacquainted, the love of her life was showing her that true love never gives up and rekindles no matter how many times others attempt to extinguish it. Today, she is happily married with three children.

Andrea believes in the power of change and delighting in each moment. But most fervently, she believes in the magic of love and imagination again.

Viking Fire Historical Romance

Viking Fire Historical Romance

In 856 CE, Ireland is a land of myth, magic, and blood. Viking raiders have fought the Irish for over half a century. Rival Irish clans promise only betrayal and carnage.

Kaireen, daughter of Laird Liannon, is suddenly forced into an arranged marriage with her sworn enemy, a Viking. She refuses to submit. With no mention of love, only land and the protection of her clan, she endeavors to get her betrothed banished from her country. Will love find its way around her stubborn heart?

Bram, the Viking, finds himself without future or inheritance as a younger son in his family. A marriage to the Laird’s daughter would grant him land if he swears fidelity and if his men will fight along with the Liannons against any foe—Irish or Viking. However, the Laird’s feisty daughter only holds animosity for him and his kind. Is marriage worth the battle scars of such a relentless opponent?

With the blame for a rival laird’s death treacherously set against the Liannons, Kaireen and Bram must find a way to lay aside their differences as an unforeseen darkness sends death snapping at their heels.

Viking Fire Excerpt

Chapter One Ireland 856 CE (condensed)

“I renounce Father for this.” Kaireen threw the elderberry gown.

“Shame on you and your children for speaking such.” Her handmaid, Elva, gathered the damask and then dusted off the rushes. “It’s a wonder one of the clim has not scolded you from your hearth for such talk.”

“No, curse Father for a fool.” She plopped on her bed and a goose feather floated away. With a huff, she leaned against the oak headboard. Red curtains puffed like a robin’s chest around oak poles supporting her wooden canopy.

Her bare feet brushed against the stone floor.

“You know your da arranged a marriage within a season.” Elva smirked.

Kaireen shook her head. “To another land holder,” and waved a hand in disgust, “not t-this heathen. Twice they raided our land in the last month alone. Now father wants me as wife to one of them?” She clenched her fists. “No, I will not marry this Viking.”

Elva smiled, reminding Kaireen of the rumors of her handmaid’s uncanny foresight.

Whispers of Elva making strange things happen and often blamed as the cause of

Kaireen’s stubborn refusal to behave as a laird’s daughter should.

“You’ve not seen him yet.” Elva wiggled her brows.

“So?” Kaireen shrugged. “I would like to never see him.”

“Well then, would you not like to know if you have a handsome husband or not?” She waited for her response, but Kaireen scowled. Elva chuckled. “I would rather get a good look at him now than the morning after.”

Kaireen’s ears heated. “I am not marrying.” She shook her head for emphasis. “So there will be no morning, nor night, nor wedding.”

“If he is handsome, I may fight you for him.” Elva smiled, deepening the wrinkles around her eyes.

“Welcome to him either way.” Kaireen laughed.

“Andrea Cooper weaves a tantalizing tale of life in a not-too-civilized Ireland. Best of all she weaves in the unique thread of a courtship filled with fun, fury, and fighting that leads to a love that show how true loves are willing to give their lives to protect each other. Good entertainment.” –Long and Short Reviews

“The story is fast paced with almost constant action. The love story is sweet as Kaireen matures into an incredible and strong woman. Sinister plots and violent betrayals tell a compelling story. A very enjoyable story.” –Night Owl Reviews

The Garnet Dagger Excerpt: Chapter One (condensed)

I’ve known death. For over half a millennia, I escorted many to death at the end of my sword. In the eyes of the dying, I watched it shroud them. Foolishly, I thought many more eras would pass before death came for me. It came so swiftly that I could not run; I could not escape. At a village, dressed in human clothes, I took in everything.

I delayed my return to my people as I watched human jugglers bounce torches and knifes. It was autumn equinox and the festivities would continue well into the night. Children laughed as they chased each other. A trail of leaves from their costumes twirled after them. It was dark when I reached the forest.

I hiked slower than my normal speed, so as not to startle whatever human called out. My leather boots crunched upon dried, diseased leaves and bark. Horrified, I glanced up. Branches twisted around each other to suffocating. Lifeless limbs cracked in the wind. Flesh of the trees sloughed off in layers, exposing its bones. Gashes hollowed out chunks of warmth. Fragments of leaves clung to finger tips, marking sepulchers of the dying trees.

The trees mourned with wails like splitting wood, and I brought my hands over my ears. I must flee before I became infected, they told me. Flee before the stain of this defilement creeps into you, they warned. Trees spoke to my kind, always had. Yet these trees were in such agony of death that I could not breathe. It felt as though my lungs had folded in on themselves, like a moth unable to break loose from its cocoon.

“The Garnet Dagger is an enthralling paranormal romance . . . The author does a masterful job of building her own unique world . . . The Garnet Dagger is an intriguing and thoroughly entertaining paranormal romance that is worth the read.” –The Lusty Penguin

“The Garnet Dagger was a well written story. The author Andrea R Cooper did fabulous world-building. The relationship depicted between the two main characters is flawless. And the description was very vivid. Highly recommended for all lovers of Paranormal romance.” –Paranormal Romance Reviews

“Highly recommended for all lovers of Paranormal romance.” Nas Dean

“The setting was darkly beautiful and the imagery brought it to life.” Katie Cody

Bio Pic 300x400Bio

Andrea has always created characters and stories. But it wasn’t until she was in her late twenties that she started writing novels.

What happened that ignited the writing flame in her fingers? Divorced, and disillusioned by love songs and stories. They exaggerate. She thought. Love and Romance are not like that in the real world. Then she met her husband and realized, yes love and romance are exactly like the songs and stories say. She is now a happy wife, and a mom to three kids (two boys and a girl).

Andrea writes paranormal and historical romance. When not writing or reading, one may find Andrea dancing in Zumba.

She believes in the power of change and counting each moment as a blessing. But most importantly, she believes in love.

How much of Christmas traditions do we carry on from our ancestors?

Many, but I’ll only talk about 3:

Christmas Tree: Prior to the 17th Century and German Lutherans, people didn’t have a Christmas tree unless they were one of the tree worshiping pagans or druids. However,  since German Prince Albert brought the tree tradition with him to Queen Victoria in 1840, we enjoy this decorative tree.

Eggnog: Eggnog history starts with Captain John Smith’s settlement of Jamestown in 1607. The colonists named their recipe “egg and grog”. Grog was a term back then for a drink containing rum. Egg & Grog was reduced to “egg’n’grog” then shortening again to eggnog. It’s a simple recipe of milk, beaten eggs, sugar, ground cinnamon and nutmeg. 1

Mistletoe:  “In Scandinavia, mistletoe was considered a plant of peace, under which enemies could declare a truce or warring spouses kiss and make-up.”3  Some say there was a prophesy that Baldur, Thor’s grandson, would die. His mother, Frigga, asked every plant, tree, and animal to promise not to harm him. All agreed. A celebration was in order. However, Loki shot him with a mistletoe arrow – the only plant overlooked – and died. Baldur was loved by all (except Loki) and all wept for this sun god for three days. He was resurrected by his mother. It is believed her tears created the white berries. With her son restored, Frigga kissed all underneath the mistletoe. She stated that anyone who stands under it, only a kiss as a symbol of love and friendship would greet them.

It is poisonous – so only kissing under the mistletoe 🙂

What’s your favorite tradition?

The Garnet Dagger  – Indulgence excerpt:

With her hand in mine, I moved her to me. Hungrily, my lips sought hers. I yearned to show her my love. I pressed her against me, my fingers played over the curve of her hips. As we kissed, her hands touched my face, and then tugged at my trousers. Heat pressed against me.

Then her lips trailed kisses down my chest.

Shyly, she gazed up at me. Fingers unfastened her cloak. The material floated down in a circle behind her. Mesmerized, I watched her hands loosen the laces of her gown. At last, she eased the gown over her head and tossed it aside.

I forgot to breathe.

Her breasts were full, and seemed to yearn for my touch. Flat stomach flowed down into the curve of her hips. A golden triangle of curls between her legs captivated me.

Nervous, my hands fumbled at my trousers.

A giggle floated on the breeze as I struggled to remove my trousers, now lodged over my boots.

Celeste pushed my hands aside. Eased up the material, she then tugged my boots off. Next my trousers were gone and on the ground. I leaned forward taking Celeste with me. Her cloak spread out beneath us. I kissed her until we both panted for breath, and yet wanted more.

In worship, my lips sought her body. At hearing her indrawn breath when my lips grazed her nipple, I kissed each in turn. I opened my mouth over one of her taunt breast and suckled until her fingernails grazed down my back. Then I gave equal measure to the other breast until she ground her hips into me.

My groin matched her urgency. Of its own accord, one of my hands toyed at the junction of her thighs. I kissed her lips. Moisture touched my fingertips and I growled in anticipation. Her hips pressed against me as if showing the steps to this ancient dance.

Viking Fire – Indulgence excerpt

Outside he released her, but blocked her path to re-enter the hall.

The music resonated around them. Leaning against the far wall, she crossed her arms.

She was two feet away from him, but he was too close.

“I thought the air would clear your head.” He cocked his eyebrow, examining her.

“My head is fine, thank you.”

“Aye, and the rest of you is fine to look at too.” His thick dialect chased shivers through her.

Her hands smoothed her gown. She caught herself and stopped. At seeing his grin, her frown deepened. “I believe it’s improper for you to stare at a lady so.”

“Would you rather I stare at you on our wedding night?” She opened her mouth to speak, but he continued. “Whilst you are without clothes?”

“I assure you, sir, we will have no wedding night.” Her blush radiated from her chest and spread between her legs.

“You wish to wed during the day then?” He took a step closer. “Very well, daylight will be all the better to see you.”

Music and laughter from inside filtered through the night air. He strode toward her.

She braced for his advances, wondering if she had the strength to inflict enough pain

to make him reconsider. Part of her wanting to run, the other part daring him closer in challenge. God’s toenails, how could she have forgotten her dagger?

A breath from her, he stopped. Her heart hammered in her chest.

His fingers brushed aside a strand of her auburn hair that had slipped from her braid.

The brief touch sent fire coursing through her. Afraid her legs would give way she leaned farther against the wall.
